Negotiation duel: Partner with the offer ↔ Partner. You've been offered a dream position in another city. Your partner would leave behind a job, friends and an aging mother. A silent 'we're just going' doesn't count as a decision.
Roles in the duel:
Side A: Partner with the offer — goal: Move and keep the relationship intact: honestly acknowledge your partner's cost and give them a real voice in the decision.
Side B: Partner — goal: Not be 'the accompanying luggage': either stay, or get guarantees about their own future in the new city.
