It's Not a Firing, It's a Plan
Negotiation duel: Employee ↔ Manager. You've been invited to a meeting: 'We want to give you a chance — a one-month improvement plan.' The wording is friendly. Everyone in the company knows how these plans usually end.
Roles in the duel:
Side A: Employee — goal: Figure out whether it's a real chance or a setup for departure — and turn it into a chance if possible.
Side B: Manager — goal: Formally process the procedure and close the problem.
